“Post-Conviction Release — A Path to Redemption:

From Sealing Arrests to Sanitizing Convictions

and New Automatic DOJ Relief”

 Review of Post-Conviction statutes and updates providing greater relief for those who have suffered prior arrests or convictions. NEW material covered will include amendments to Penal Code 1203.41 (allowing dismissals on State
Prison sentences) and New Automatic Dismissals and Sealing by the DOJ (PC 1203.425 and PC 851.93).

New State Bar CLE Requirements for Tech, Civility, Optional Wellness

Rule 2.72 of the Rules of the State Bar has been revised to increase required hours for the Competence requirement and to add new requirements for Technology and Civility. These changes will be effective starting with the 1/31/2025 compliance period.

•    (Updated) Competence - A minimum of two hours of CLE is now required addressing competence, with at least one hour dedicated to prevention and detection. There is also an optional one hour Wellness Competence requirement.

•    (New) Technology - At least one hour of CLE is now required, focusing on the role of technology in the practice of law.

•    (New) Civility - At least one hour of CLE is now required, addressing civility in the legal profession. es will be effective starting with the 1/31/2025 compliance period.
