SUBJECT: Court Security Policy re Cell phones/cameras
APPROVED BY: Peter H. Norell, Presiding Judge
"Due to security concerns regarding cell phones; cameras and/or guns which are disguised as cell phones, the following policy has been enacted and is to become effective immediately.
· All cell phones will be inspected at the Weapons Screening Stations located in each of the courthouses countywide.
· All cell phones will be checked to ensure they are operational. All cell phones with built-in cameras or other devices will not be allowed in any Courthouse and must be returned to the person and removed from the Courthouse.
· As officers of the Court, attorneys with a current Bar Card from the State of California or San Bernardino County, will be permitted to enter the court facilities with camera phones or other devices with cameras. Cameras may not be used in courtrooms without permission of a judicial officer.
"When property is left behind or confiscated as contraband, the property will be transported to the Court Executive Office for either destruction or further disposition. A Public Notice stating this new Court policy shall be posted in an area at or near the entrance(s) of all Courthouses. All persons entering court facilities are subject to searches.
